Workshop: adopting MCP safely in finance & insurance
In short: a half-day in-company workshop in which board, IT and compliance jointly work out what the Model Context Protocol can mean for your organisation — which integrations deliver value, which servers you can trust, and how to deploy it within GDPR, DORA and the AI Act. Taught by an insurance-industry executive who uses MCP daily himself.
Why this workshop?
Connecting AI assistants to business systems is no longer an experiment in 2026: your competitors are doing it, your employees are asking for it, and your regulator has an opinion about it. The question is not whether your organisation will use MCP, but whether that happens in a controlled way — or as shadow IT. This workshop gives decision-makers, in one session, the overview that otherwise sits scattered across English-language developer documentation.
What do we cover?
- MCP in plain language. What the protocol is, why every major AI vendor supports it, and how it differs from "just an API integration". Live demo with real business scenarios.
- The trust question. How to get from 50,000+ available MCP servers to a controlled selection: official vs. community, authentication checks, red flags — the methodology behind our directory.
- Security & incidents. What goes wrong when it goes wrong (prompt injection, tool poisoning, real incidents from 2025-2026) and the measures that make the difference: starting read-only, scopes, human-in-the-loop. See also security & watchouts.
- The compliance framework. What GDPR, DORA and the AI Act concretely require when you give an AI model access to customer or policy data — translated into a decision framework that compliance and IT can both support. Based on MCP and EU regulation.
- Your roadmap. To close: which three integrations offer your organisation the most value at the least risk, and what the first controlled step is.
Who teaches it?
Ivo Thijssen — CEO of a Dutch insurance group and founder of MCP Store. He combines executive practice in a regulated sector with daily hands-on MCP use for administration, reporting and automation. Not a consultant working from a slide deck: the examples come from his own practice.
